The negative material was recorded on 35 mm film and was later broadcast in this format. The single-roll film has a length of 237 meters. The film's spokesman, James F. Clemenger , had his only appearance in an acting position here, otherwise he was primarily a screenwriter .

Bosom Friends was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Short Film - Novelty in 1935 . In the awarding of the award, however, he was defeated by the film City of Wax by Stacy and Horace Woodard , which was also made by Skibo Productions . These were the first Oscar nominations for Skibo Productions , two more followed in 1936 and 1938, both of which were won. So Bosom Friends was the only Oscar-nominated film from the company that didn't win the award in the end.
