Bostongurka (Swedish for “Boston cucumber”) is a variant of pickled cucumbers in which finely chopped cucumber pieces are pickled with spices such as paprika and mustard seeds . Bostongurka is one of the most famous pickle preparations in Sweden .

Bostongurka was developed by the Swedish company AB Felix based on a Hungarian recipe. Originally, a possible use was sought in order to utilize the unsaleable cucumber pieces that arise during the production of cut pickles. Bostongurka is a registered trademark of the Procordia Group.

Neither the ingredients nor the method of preparation are associated with the American city of Boston . The association with the USA only came about through its originally intended use as a fast food additive .
