The Taipei Botanical Garden ( Chinese  台北 植物園 , Pinyin Táiběi Zhíwùyuán ) is a public garden in the Taiwanese capital Taipei . Located in the Zhongzheng district near the Xiaonanmen MRT station, it has an area of ​​8.2 hectares and is home to around 2000 species.

The opening took place on January 22, 1921, at the time of Japanese rule in Taiwan , on the site of a kindergarten that was built in 1896 or 1900. This makes it the oldest botanical garden in Taiwan. Naked seeds , ferns , native plants of Taiwan, plants relevant to Buddhism ( Buddhism Garden ) are shown in 17 different sections . There are also nine ponds, including a lotus pond. There are two historical buildings on the site, the herbarium (1924) and the guest house of the imperial ambassador (1888), each of which has exhibitions. There are two monuments on the site, the Bunzo Hayata Memorial and a statue to Urbain Jean Faurie .
