Zabrze Botanical Garden
The municipal botanical garden in Zabrze (German: Hindenburg OS ) was laid out in the 1930s and is now 6.5 hectares in size. The facility is located at ul. Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego 60. The botanical garden has a rosarium with 2000 roses, an alpinum , ponds and greenhouses, as well as a park in the French style and one in the English style .
The garden was created on the initiative and according to the design of the Hindenburg horticultural inspector Fritz Berckling as a botanical central school garden and was opened in June 1938. He had worked for the city of Hindenburg OS since 1928 and created several parks in the newly emerging city. The design of the school garden continued for months. During the war, the garden was devastated and then used to grow vegetables. In 1953 the garden was restored.
