Botond Storcz (born January 30, 1975 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian canoeist . He won three gold medals in two Olympics.

Career

At the 1997 European Championships, Botond Storcz won three gold medals. He won over 500 meters and over 1000 meters in a single kayak . The four- person kayak with Zoltán Kammerer , Botond Storcz, Ákos Vereckei and Robert Hegedüs won over 500 meters ahead of Poland and Russia. Four weeks later at the World Championships in Dartmouth Storcz won the three competitions he had already won at the European Championships. There was also a silver medal with the four-man over 1000 meters together with Zoltán Antal , Gábor Szabo and Márton Bauer . In late 1997, Botond Storcz was voted Hungary's Sportsman of the Year for his success in his first international season .

In 1998 the World Championships took place in Szeged. Storcz won two silver medals in a four- person kayak over 500 and over 1000 meters, together with Márton Bauer, Krisztián Bartfai and Zsolt Szadovszki . At the 1999 World Championships in Milan , he won silver in two over 500 meters together with Gábor Horváth . The four with Storcz, Kammerer, Vereckei and Horvath won bronze over 500 meters and gold over 1000 meters. In the following year Storcz, Kammerer, Vereckei and Horváth took second place over 1000 meters behind the German four at the European Championships in Poznan. At the Olympic Games in Sydney Storcz competed twice. Together with Zoltán Kammerer he won the gold medal over 500 meters in two, the Hungarian four over 1000 meters won with Storcz, Kammerer, Vereckei and Horváth ahead of the German European champions.

At the 2001 World Championships in Poznan, the German four-man won over 1000 meters ahead of the Hungarians with Kammerer, Storcz, Roland Kökény and Horváth. In the same line-up, the Hungarian four-man won silver at the European Championships in 2002 behind the Slovaks. At the 2002 World Championships , Kammerer and Storcz won the bronze medal over 500 meters.

In 2004, the Hungarian foursome over 1000 meters with Storcz, Vereckei, Horváth and Kammerer competed at the European Championships in Poznan and won the title. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , the Hungarian four-man won in this line-up ahead of the German four-man, Storcz and Kammerer took fifth place over 500 meters.

Storcz ended his international career after his third Olympic victory. He became a trainer and in 2009 he took on the role of head coach of the Hungarian canoeists.
