United States Embassy in Nicosia
The United States Embassy in Nicosia is the seat of the diplomatic mission of the United States of America (USA) in the Republic of Cyprus . It is located at 2407 Metochiou & Ploutarchou Street, Engomi of the Cypriot capital and has existed since the Republic of Cyprus was founded.
Intelligence activities
According to former Canadian intelligence technician Mike Frost, the "Operations Room" for electronic reconnaissance (SIGINT) by US services is located on the top floor of the embassy. At least eight rod antennas , eight semi -directional Yagi directional antennas , two long-wire antennas and devices for privacy protection (similar to a radome ) for directional antennas are documented on the roof of the embassy . The antenna systems indicate the capacities for permanent monitoring of a wide frequency spectrum. Cell phones, pagers, wireless Internet communication ( UMTS ), WLANs, satellites down and uplinks, terrestrial satellites and UHF / VHF communication and shortwave radio can be monitored.
The embassy was part of the NSA / CIA Special Collection Service program .
