Boulder Burial from Oranmore
The Oranmore Boulder Burial is a large rock just west of Oranmore , north of the old Dublin to Galway road , in County Galway , Ireland .
Boulder Burials (also Boulder Tombs) are mostly made of large megaliths tombs from the Bronze and Iron Ages , the main component of which is a large rock or stone block (up to 3.35 meters in length), which rests close to the ground on mostly much smaller bearing stones, which act as a kind of box form. Sometimes the megalithic sites that are particularly common in County Cork are surrounded by a stone circle (Bonagh, Brenny More, Cappanaboul). Usually there is a cremation under the stone.
The remains of a Portal Tomb lie near the east bank of the Corrib between Galway and Menlo.
