Boulos Abdulla Sarru '

Boulos Abdulla Sarru (* between 1950 and 1959; † September 9, 2009 ) was a Lebanese Anglicist .

Life

He studied Anglo-Saxon literature at the Lebanese University . He completed his studies with a licentiate in 1973. In 1975 he completed his master's degree at the American University of Beirut . He completed his doctorate in English and American Studies at Indiana University, Bloomington in 1979. He then taught as a professor at the Lebanese University in Beirut . He has also taught at other universities in Lebanon and was most recently Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences at Notre Dame University - Louaize .

His research interests were the cultural and intellectual backgrounds of the colonial times, the revolution and the American literature of the 19th century, in particular the authors Nathaniel Hawthorne , Herman Melville and Whitman. He was a fellow of the Nathaniel Hawthorne Society . He studied the socio-cultural and archetypal background for the descriptions of the female characters in Hawthorne's novels. He also dealt with the history and religion, especially Christianity, of Lebanon.

Boulos Abdulla Sarru 'was killed in a car accident in September 2009.
