Their fan club is called the Bounding Mainiacs .

history

Bounding Main was formed when Dean Calin asked five other veteran stage actors Christie Dalby , Gina Dalby , Maggie Hannington , Jon Krivitzky and David Yondorf if they wanted to make maritime music together. The group first met for rehearsal on January 19, 2003 and has performed together ever since. The group is from the Kenosha , Wisconsin area .

Since all six actors were also singers and traditional shanties are often sung a cappella, the group decided to perform their songs a cappella (sometimes with percussion support). Bounding Main appears at maritime trade fairs, music festivals, windjammer meetings, museum events, harbor festivals, company events and private celebrations.

Their first appearance in Europe took place at the beginning of August 2008 at the Festival Maritim in Vegesack .
