Bourn Hall is a country house in the village of Bourn in the southern part of the English county of Cambridgeshire .

The house was built on the site of the former Bourn Castle , which was burned to the ground during the Peasants' Revolt . At the beginning of the 16th century a half-timbered house was built to which a three-sided country house was added in 1602 by the Hagar family . The rainwater outlets on the front facade still bear the initials of John and Francis Hagar .

The Hagar family left Bourn Hall in 1733 and then belonged to the De La Warr family until 1883 . During this time, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert visited Bourn while at Wimpole Hall . The last family connection with the village was Lady Mary , daughter of the 7th Earl de la Warr and wife of Major Griffin , who bought the country house in 1921 and lived there until 1957. Then Peter and Ann King bought the property. In 1980 Patrick Steptoe and Robert Edwards bought Bourn Hall and built it into a world-renowned infertility clinic .
