Bourse solidarité vacances

The Bourse solidarité vacances , BSV for short , is a French public interest group (French groupement d'intérêt public , GIP for short ) that, after the ratification of the law to combat exclusion ( loi de lutte contre les exclusions ) of July 29th 1998 was founded in 1999 on the initiative of the minister responsible for tourism at the time and has been under the patronage of his successor since then. The organization, based in Charenton-le-Pont in the Parisian banlieue , brings together the French state, French municipalities and local authorities, public and private service providers in the tourism sector as well as humanitarian, charitable and social associations. She advocates the “right to vacation”.

The aim is the social integration of financially or otherwise disadvantaged, socially disadvantaged or isolated people and families through vacation stays by the sea, in the mountains or in the countryside. As the initiator and coordinator of a unique solidarity chain, which serves to find people in need through charitable associations and social welfare offices, and, in cooperation with service providers, to provide them with appropriately inexpensive offers, and to provide assistance in planning and implementing their vacation trips, BSV is the contact of the various members of the community of interests. In addition to the reliability of the service providers, BSV monitors the quality of the tourist products offered and compliance with the prescribed safety precautions.

The BSV is financially supported mainly by the State Secretariat responsible for tourism. The ministries responsible for social affairs and youth are also involved, as are several French regions and departments . The interest group is supported, among other things, by the Agence nationale pour les chèques-vacances , which in turn makes it easier for employees to organize their vacation trips. Important partners are the railway company SNCF and the airline Air France . Both benefit the people cared for by BSV through specific discounts tailored to their needs.

In 2003, the Bourse Solidarité Vacances enabled around 40,000 people in need to go on vacation.
