The bridge and transfer vehicle PDP or product 561M (Russian: Переправочно-десантный паром ПДП (Изделие 561П) ) is a Russian floating speed bridge based on a chain chassis.

System description

The operational concept of such military floating rapid bridges provides that heavy vehicles such as battle tanks , mobile artillery systems , armored personnel carriers and military convoys are able to pass unhindered water surfaces within the scope of their mobility without impairing their advance time in excess. In particular, the passage of difficult topographical obstacles represents a vulnerable situation for any military unit, especially for air attacks.

The PDP system can be coupled to other units or used in ferry operations (individually or coupled). It is easy to overcome large bodies of water, unlike with armored rapid bridges. The PMM Wolna system from the 1970s was conceptually identical to the PDP, but the more modern PDP went back to a chain-driven base vehicle.
