Brünighausen is a hamlet with four houses (and outbuildings) within the town of Alfeld in the Hildesheim district , Lower Saxony . Since 1849 the houses in Brünighhausen have been divided between Brunkensen and Limmer (today both districts of Alfeld).

Brünighausen is located between Godenau and Brunkensen on Kreisstraße 407.

There is a local legend that says:

One day a miller was at the watermill ditch. Suddenly an imp came and pressed a gold nugget into the miller's hand. The wretch said to hide the lump of gold safely. When the imp was gone, the miller's wife threw the lump into the water mill ditch, and to this day it has never been found.

Depending on the tradition, the legend varies between gold and silver nuggets and between a water mill and a windmill.
