List of breeds of chicken |
The Brabant - domestic chicken breed from the Netherlands is an ancient breed from the 17th century. The ancestors of the Paduan chicken Crèvecœur and country chicken are considered ancestors of the Brabantians . This breed is common all over Europe .
The Brabanter is an agile chicken with a full body. The helmet hood, which it has in common with the Appenzell pointed hood, is striking . Brabanters are also considered the ancestors of the Appenzell pointed hood. Brabantians have raised nostrils and a V-shaped horn crest. The beard of the animals is in three parts. The colors silver, gold and chamois have crescent dots at the end of the feather as a special feature. The barrel is blue.
Brabanters are good casual and have an imposing appearance. In dry weather, a free run is necessary, whereby it should be noted that Brabanters are very happy to fly.
A dwarf form exists and is rarer than the large form.
