Brad Mathas (born June 24, 1993 in Canberra ) is a New Zealand middle-distance runner .

Athletic career

Brad Mathas gained his first international experience at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore , where he finished eighth in the B-final over 1000 meters. In 2012 he took part over 800 meters in the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , but failed there in 1: 49.74 minutes in the first round. In 2015 Mathas took part in the Summer Universiade in Gwangju , South Korea , and reached the semi-finals over 800 meters there. In April 2018 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time , where he finished fifth in the 800 meter final in 1: 46.07 minutes.

Mathas was New Zealand champion in the 800-meter run between 2012 and 2014 and from 2016 to 2018. He is a student at Massey University .
