The approximately 200 species of the Bradynobaenidae known worldwide belong to the insect order of the hymenoptera (Hymenoptera). Within this they are in the superfamily Vespoidea , the fold wasps, in the subordination of the waist wasps (Apocrita). In animals, stridulation organs have developed independently of other relatives , which are still found in the representatives of the Typhoctinae and the Chyphotinae . The Apterogyninae and the Bradynobaeninae have subsequently lost them. Little is known about the likely parasitic way of life. In one species it is believed that roller spiders could serve as hosts.
