The Brahma owl ( Athene brama ) is an owl that is distributed from southern Iran via India and Sri Lanka to Indochina . It belongs to the genus of the little owl .
description
At 21 cm it is quite small and stocky. The top is gray-brown and spotted white. The underside is dashed white and brown. The face is light white with eye-catching eyebrows and the eyes are yellow. The neck is marked with a white band. The sexes look the same.
Way of life
The Brahma Owl is a common inhabitant of open habitats, including open wooded areas, farmland, and human settlements at altitudes up to 1400 m above sea level. It is nocturnal, but you can sometimes watch it during the day. Smaller birds that spot him will often attack him while he is crouching in a tree. It hunts a wide variety of insects and small vertebrates. His reputation is a rough chirurr-chirurr-chirurr . It breeds in tree hollows and the clutch consists of three to five eggs.
