The Brandenburger Kulturstadl is an amateur theater company in the Bayreuth district of St. Georgen .

The around 200 active members of the Brandenburger Kulturstadl realize four to five theater productions a year on a voluntary basis. There is a regular tabloid comedy from January to March and a Christmas fairy tale at the end of the year. Further productions are crime novels, summer fairy tales and youth productions such as Emil and the Detectives or Urmel aus dem Eis .

History & Members

In 1979 the ensembles of the "Studiobühne Schützenhaus" and the "Theater for Children of the VHS Weidenberg Upper Franconia" merged. Regular games took place in the Bayreuth Schützenhaus on Eubener Straße. After only two seasons, the two groups had to look for new premises. The "Studiobühne Schützenhaus" moved into a former officers' mess on Röntgenstrasse ("Studiobühne Bayreuth"). The “Theater for Children” moved into the former club hall “Tanzstadl” in the Brandenburger Strasse in the St. Georgen district after extensive renovation work carried out in-house (10,000 hours) and called the building from then on “Brandenburger Kulturstadl”.

On November 6, 1982, gaming began with the fairy tale " Hansel and Gretel ". At the same time, the theater group broke away from its sponsor, the Weidenberg Adult Education Center. With an entry in the register of associations at the Bayreuth District Court on December 3, 1982, she founded the Brandenburger Kulturstadl eV

In the 1990s, more than DM 600,000 were invested in the building for up to 150 performances a year with an audience capacity of over 90%.

The 300,000 visitor was welcomed in spring 2017.

Kulturstadl youth

Since the performance of Erich Kästner'sEmil and the Detectives ” in the spring of 1995, the Brandenburger Kulturstadl has had a youth group. It was the first Bavarian theater group to be admitted to a city ​​youth council in 1996 with its own statutes and independent board of directors .

Since then there has been a Christmas fairy tale in the Kulturstadl every year, which is mostly played by young people, and every few years another youth production.

The Kulturstadl-Jugend is also involved in many children's and youth activities such as B. the children's play city Mini-Bayreuth represented with a make-up stand.

Board

The Brandenburger Kulturstadl is organized as a non-profit association. The Kulturstadl is self-administered by a nine-member board. The Kulturstadl-Jugend elects its own board. The chairman of the youth group is automatically a full member of the board of the theater association.
