Reading HC
The Reading Hockey Club , founded in 1905, is one of the most successful hockey clubs in England. The club from Berkshire , playing in light blue shirts and dark blue trousers or skirts, has around 470 members. The club complex has been located in Sonning Lane in East Readings since 1985 and is used together with the Reading Cricket Club . Both clubs form the Reading Cricket & Hockey Club , a connection that exists more often in the UK. The club's current success can be traced back to the early 80s, when the club's management drew up a systematic development plan for a high-performance center for hockey. Not only did the men's team establish itself at the top of the national league, several youth teams also won English championship titles. In 1997 and 2006 Reading HC hosted the EuroHockey Cup Men's Winners Cup .
Ladies
In the 1981/82 season there was the Reading Ladies for the first time a team that played at Bulmershe College. A year later, a second team and in 1985 a third team could be founded. In 1991 two more women's teams were added, and in 1993 the first veteran team, the Rogues, was set up.
There are seven women's teams in the 2007/08 season. The 1st team, which in the preseason the National South Division (3rd division) finished undefeated first, was able to establish itself straight away in the upper half of the table in Division One (2nd division). In the national cup, the team reached the round of 16.

The top position of the men's team in England documents five national titles between 1997 and 2008 and the fact that Reading has qualified for eleven years in a row for European competitions. The highlight was winning the EuroHockey Club Champions Cup 2003 in Brussels. As the reigning champions, the team secured the title in the England Hockey League early in the 2007/08 season . The team survived the group runner-up in the debut season of the Euro Hockey League 2007/08 after two draws against the French champions Saint-Germain-en-Laye HC and the Crefelder HTC the preliminary round, knocking out Cannock HC 1-0 in the inner English round of 16 before it lost 3-2 in the quarterfinals against Dutch representatives HC Rotterdam .
