Brandenburg Gate (song)
Brandenburger Tor is a Norwegian song by Ketil Stokkan , which started at the Eurovision Song Contest 1990 for Norway with starting number 9, between Iceland (Eitt lag enn) and Israel ( Shara Barkhovot ) . It got only 8 points (4 from Israel, 1 from Denmark , 3 from Ireland ) and together with Finland (Fri?), Behind Portugal (Há semper alguém), it finished 21st and last of 22 places.
The song is about the fall of the Berlin Wall , the emotions associated with it, and how a picture went around the world. So it says in the chorus :
"Her står vi på Brandenburger Tor (Haar stor wie po Brandenburg Gate)
Hand i hand som om det va 'i går (Hond i Hond som de vaa i goor)
Du og æ på Brandenburg Gate (Dü oa po Brandenburg Gate)
Vi ser Brandenburger Tor (How see Brandenburger Tor) "
translated into German:
"Here we stand
hand in hand at the Brandenburg Gate , as if it were yesterday.
You and I at the Brandenburg Gate
We see the Brandenburg Gate"
