Branko Jelić (born May 5, 1977 in Banja Luka , Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian football player .

Jelić played from 2000 to 2003 for the Serbian capital club Red Star Belgrade , for the 2003/04 season he joined FK Vojvodina Novi Sad . During the winter break, the striker moved to the newly established Chinese Super League for Beijing Hyundai . In 2005 he was the top scorer in the top Chinese league with 21 goals this season and also “ Player of the Year ” in China. For the 2006 season, the striker moved to new league Xiamen Lanshi . After an eighth place in the first season, the club rose again in 2007 as 15th from the Chinese Super League.

Jelić then signed a contract with Energie Cottbus until June 2010 at the end of December 2007 and switched to the German Bundesliga club on January 1, 2008 free of charge .

On March 15, 2008, the 24th matchday of the 2007/08 season , he scored both goals in the sensational 2-0 home win of the then bottom Cottbus against the sovereign leaders FC Bayern Munich . It was Bayern's second and last defeat of the season, while Cottbus made an important step towards relegation with the first win of the year.

At the beginning of May 2009 he had his contract with Cottbus terminated at the end of the season in order to end his career in Australia, his wife's home. He found a new club with the Australian professional club Perth Glory , with which he signed a three-year contract.
