The Brazilian Academy of Sciences ( Portuguese Academia Brasileira de Ciências ABC) is the national academy of Brazil . It is headquartered in the city of Rio de Janeiro and was founded on May 3, 1916. Luiz Davidovich has been the incumbent president since 2016. It was founded under the name Sociedade Brasileira de Sciências (Brazilian Science Society) and was given its current name in 1921.
