The Adler Brewery is a Swiss beer brewery based in Schwanden in the canton of Glarus . It was founded in 1828. The brewery is family-owned and is the only brewery still in existence in the Glarus region. It is a member of the interest group of independent small and medium-sized breweries. The annual production is around 9,000 hectoliters.

history

In 1829, Fridolin Tschudi (1771–1847), a district administrator who also ran a wine shop, founded the inn and the brewery. His sons took over the business until it was sold to Gustav Kauth from Lucerne. After Kauth's death, Paulus Kundert (1850–1917) joined the company as a partner, and the company was continued as Kauth und Kundert. From 1925 Fritz Kundert-Streiff (1895–1960) ran the brewery and inn on his own. His successor was his son-in-law Paul Torgler-Kundert (1913–1996).

The brewery today

The company is run in the fourth generation by Ruth and Roland Oeschger and is owned by Meta Oeschger-Kundert (daughter of Fritz Kundert-Streiff) and son Roland Oeschger. A new brewhouse has been in operation since 1995.
