The Schrems Brewery is a beer brewery in Schrems in the Lower Austrian Waldviertel . The brewery has been owned by Karl Theodor Trojan since 1991.
history
The brewery was first mentioned by name in 1410 when a fire raged in Schrems, which only spared the brewery. In 1753 the then owner Reichsgraf von Falkenhayn transferred the brewery to Blasius Freyler for the amount of 950 guilders. The next change of ownership took place in 1764. At this point in time, Johann Anderl acquired the brewery for 1300 guilders, who later transferred it to his son Johann Georg. In 1838 Wolfgang Wagner bought the brewery for the amount of 4,500 guilders. He then sold it to Jokob Trojan for 10200 guilders. At this point the brewery came into the possession of the Trojan family for the first time. As his successor, his son Theodor Trojan took over the business in 1875 and built a new storage cellar for the brewery. These buildings are now a listed building .
Over the period from 1904 to 1906 the brewery was modernized and finally reopened in 1906. The old buildings had had their day, which is why they were given up. The following year his son Karl Theodor Trojan took over the brewery, who led it through two world wars and an economic crisis. The war-torn brewery was taken over by Karl Johann Trojan in 1957 and restructured into an efficient company. Karl Theodor Trojan has been running the business since 1991.
In 2010 the brewery celebrated its 600th anniversary.
