The Zassenhaus brewery was a brewery from Velbert in Lower Berg (district Neviges ).

history

The company settled at the foot of the Dresberg . The brewery was founded in 1853, then still under the name Hendrix. In 1869 August Zassenhaus took over the business from the Hendrix brothers. As a result, Zassenhaus converted the brewery into a GmbH in 1905 . In 1949 the brewery was converted into a limited partnership and from 1949 leased to the König brewery from Duisburg.

The brewery today

Today the buildings of the former company serve as residential buildings. In addition, some smaller businesses have settled in the business premises, including an antiques shop, which partly uses the premises as a warehouse. The company premises at that time are now intersected by the heavily trafficked state road 107 from Velbert-Langenberg to Velbert-Neviges. In the past fatal traffic accidents occurred in the “Zassenhaus curve”, which resulted in the installation of a “star box” for speed monitoring , which now drastically reduces the speed of the vehicles in the passage of the company premises.
