The Braunschweig guidance and information system for culture BLIK opens up and signposts the cultural monuments of Braunschweig . It also provides information on important personalities who were born or worked in the city. In addition, the BLIK signs are linked to thematic trails.

General

The BLIK wants to make both the citizens and guests of the city aware of its architectural monuments and personalities. The signage system has a uniform appearance. The signs are square and have the international cultural information color brown, which makes them highly recognizable for those interested in culture and tourists. This color is known, for example, from the widespread tourist information signs .

The BLIK was developed in 1995 by the psychologist Heiner Erke (1939–2007) from the Technical University of Braunschweig and the designer Claudia Albrecht together with the city of Braunschweig. The number of signs has been systematically expanded since then. In 2008 there were already more than 100 cultural monuments and by 2011 38 personality boards had been set up.

Cultural monuments

The BLIK signs for cultural monuments are symbolized with a symbol based on the mark of the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property . There are two forms of information signs for cultural monuments: Object signs represent individual buildings and ensemble signs represent groups of buildings or groups of cultural monuments. The BLIK signs provide information about interesting facts, the history and special significance of architectural monuments and have illustrations.

The project is sponsored by the City of Braunschweig and the Braunschweig Community Foundation and the food banks are mostly financed from private funds.

ways

The BLIK signs are currently linked to thematic paths on the Internet. So far, the Small Villages Path , the Path to Krahe and the Path to Uhde have been implemented .

More signs

Based on the model of the guidance and information system for culture, information boards are currently being developed and set up for Braunschweig memorial sites. These only differ in color from the BLIK signs: They are designed in gray. They also have the symbol for Braunschweig memorials, consisting of two X.
