no purpose stated

The Braunschweig Community Foundation was founded on September 18, 2003 as part of a ceremony in the Dornse of the Braunschweig old town hall . Its creation was largely promoted by a lecture given by the then Lower Saxony Minister of Justice Christian Pfeiffer in August 2002.

Under the motto "Thinking - Contributing - Contributing", the foundation wants to promote social and cultural activities in particular. In addition to the pure funding, she also appears as a project operator. In 2016, around 80 projects in the areas of education, violence prevention and conflict counseling, mobilization of civic engagement, nature and environmental protection and art, culture and monument protection were funded. The most complex project is “On the way to books - Reading promotion at Braunschweig schools and daycare centers”, which has already reached around 70 facilities in Braunschweig and in which 150 voluntary reading mentors are regularly employed.

Including the trust foundations it manages , the foundation capital amounts to around EUR 12.53 million (April 2017). In 2016, 661,824 euros were invested in projects.

The foundation is a signatory of the Transparent Civil Society Initiative .

On April 1, 2015, the foundation was awarded the seal of quality for good trust foundation administration.

Citizen brunch

The foundation is known to a broad Braunschweig public for hosting the Braunschweig Citizens Brunch : In 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2016, up to 1000 beer tent sets were set up in the old town. These tables were rented to citizens who brunch there. There were also stands with food and drink and stages with music and entertainment. The proceeds from the successful event went to the community foundation.
