The Volksbank BraWo Foundation is a foundation under civil law with legal capacity and is based in Braunschweig . It was founded in 2005 by Volksbank eG Braunschweig Wolfsburg (Volksbank BraWo) and promotes social, non-profit, scientific and cultural ventures.
Duties of the foundation
The foundation has the task of promoting activities in the fields of education, art and culture, international understanding, youth and elderly care, welfare, homeland conservation, nature conservation, landscape conservation, sport and science as well as charitable purposes in the business area of Volksbank BraWo. The focus is on projects for children and young people. The foundation does not pursue any self-economic, but exclusively charitable purposes.
The foundation's capital is 30 million euros. In addition to the initial capital of 10 million euros, donations of 10 million euros each were made in 2010 and 2016. In 2015, the Volksbank BraWo Foundation used a total of over 1.2 million of its own income and donations for foundation-based projects and 16 grants.
Since its establishment, the foundation has supported over 425 projects in the Braunschweig-Wolfsburg region, which have benefited more than 52,250 children and young people. The foundation worked closely with the United Kids Foundations children's network , which was also founded in 2005 by Volksbank BraWo and supports nutrition, exercise and education projects. The joint donation campaign "1000 × 1000" raised a total of 12.8 million euros by the end of 2015.
