Giordano Bellincampi

Giordano Bellincampi (* 1965 in Rome ) is from Italy originating Danish conductor .

Bellincampi was born in Rome and moved to Denmark with his family in 1976 at the age of eleven. He studied bass trombone and conducting at the Royal Danish Music Academy in Copenhagen . He was initially engaged as a trombonist with the Royal Danish Orchestra before making his debut as a conductor with the Odense Symphony Orchestra in 1994 . Since then he has worked as a conductor worldwide, u. a. with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra or the Deutsche Oper am Rhein ( La Bohème , 2010). He was u. a. First guest conductor with the Royal Danish Orchestra and also music director there from 2000 to 2006. Bellincampi made his operatic debut in 2000 with the performance of Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème at the Royal Copenhagen Opera House . Numerous opera conductors around the world followed, mainly with works from the Italian repertoire such as La traviata or Il trovatore . Giordano Bellincampi also took over the position of General Music Director of the Danish National Opera in Aarhus in 2005 . In early 2013 he succeeded Jonathan Darlington as General Music Director of the Duisburg Philharmonic . He has been leading the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra since 2016 .
