The Brausenwerther Bridge is a road bridge with nine lanes over the Wupper in the Elberfeld district of Wuppertal . It connects Morianstrasse north of the Wupper with the southern left bank of the river with federal road 7 (B 7) at the main traffic intersection Döppersberg . The heavily trafficked bridge is included in the street naming Morianstrasse .
The first bridge construction made of wood existed at this point as early as 1771. In 1815 it was replaced by a stone bridge, which in turn was replaced in 1867 by an iron bridge called "Thomashofer Bridge" . As a single-span prestressed concrete construction with flat-based abutments, today's bridge was built in 1960 as part of the expansion of the B 7.
Due to the dilapidation due to the heavy use, it will be renovated in (presumably) six construction phases from April 2008, and the blocking of individual lanes will result in traffic obstructions. In November 2007 the costs are calculated at 348,000 euros. The last major renovation took place in 1987.
