Brazzetto

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The brazzetto was a measure of length and was also known as Mailander Elle , Milanese braccia.

It was equivalent to ⅔ the Viennese yardstick or 0.595 meters. In the silk trade the Milan yardstick was also used by law . It was related to the Wiener Elle as 47 to 36 or very exactly as 411.552 to 311.00. This was a measure used by bricklayers and joiners / carpenters. It was a "foot measure". Brazzetto was particularly popular in the Swiss canton of Ticino .

  • 1 old Milan yard = 263.7328882984704 old Paris yard = 0.763520290832444 Vienna yard = 0.714200688651854 Bavarian yard
  • 1 brazzetto = 12 ounces = 144 points
  • 1 Brazzetto = 0.396 meter = 176 Parisian lines = 1 foot and 2 inches and ½ Vienna lines

The foot in Lugano deviated:

  • 1 Brazzetto = 12 ounces = 12 points = 0.5 meter = 221.648 Parisian lines = 1 2/5 new Swiss feet
