Brede is a former district in the East Westphalian town of Brakel in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The Brede area extends in the northern part of Brakel between Nieheimer Straße and the bypass road that leads towards the hospital. The conclusion in the north is the Pahenwinkel.

history

Up der Breden , outside the former northern city wall of Brakel, the monastery Mariae Opferungsthal was donated by the counts of Asseburg in 1483 . In 1849, Count Hermann Werner von Bocholtz-Asseburg asked sister Marie Theresia Gerhardinger, the founder of the poor school sisters v. UL Fr. to sisters for the orphanage and orphanage school. In May 1850 she was able to comply with this request and sent the first three sisters to Brede. In 1851 they founded the secondary school for girls, from which the schools developed.

Since January 1, 2006, the Brede Monastery and the Arnsberg Convent have been branches of the Bavarian Order Province.
