Breendonk

Breendonk is a district of the municipality of Puurs-Sint-Amands in the Belgian province of Antwerp .

Breendonk has an area of ​​8.01 km² and a population of 2640 inhabitants (2001).

During the Belgian municipal reform in 1977, the municipal area of ​​the previously independent village of Breendonk was divided into two parts. The part to the west of the A12 motorway was incorporated as a district to Puurs and the part to the east of it with Fort Breendonk was incorporated into the municipality of Willebroek . As a result, the fort is no longer in the local area of ​​Breendonk.

Breendonk is the location of the Duvel Moortgat brewery . The beer brands Duvel and Vedett , among others, are brewed here.
