Broad pennant of the German Emperor

The broad pennant was the highest command mark in the German imperial navy from 1895 and was only placed on the large top in place of the imperial standard on the orders of the emperor . Then the gun salute ceased.

The broad pennant was a white, conical pennant with a rounded tip on which an iron cross , diagonally a scepter , a sword and the imperial crown were depicted. From 1908 onwards, the German Empress also received her own broad pennant, which showed a representation of the empress crown from 1888.

In the British Royal Navy , on the other hand, the term broad pennant is traditionally used for the command symbol of a commodore . It has the shape of a double stand, a flag with a dovetail.
