Coordinates: 29 ° 57 ' S , 146 ° 51' O Brewarrina Shire is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 19,163.5 km² and has around 1,650 inhabitants.
Brewarrina is located on the northern border with Queensland on the Darling River in the north-western region about 780 km northwest of the metropolis of Sydney . The area includes 41 hamlets and hamlets, including Brewarrina, Gongolgon, Goodooga, Tarcoon, Weilmoringle and part of New Angledool. The seat of the Shire Council is in the city of Brewarrina in the center of the LGA, where about 850 inhabitants live.

The Brewarrina Shire Council has twelve members who are elected by LGA residents. Brewarrina is not divided into districts. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
