Bridal Veil Falls (Waikato)
The Bridal Veil Falls ( Māori Waireinga ; German: Bridal Veil Falls) are a 55-meter-high waterfall on Pakoka River in the Waikato region in New Zealand .
Geographical location
The waterfall is located approx. 20 km from Raglan .
description
The fall falls over the edge of a steep wall made of columnar basalt into a small, 5-meter-deep lake at the foot of the wall. Here there is a large rock immediately below the surface of the lake, on which the impacting water is atomized. This gave the waterfall its name. The lake is located in a sandstone formation , which eroded and eroded much faster than the basalt, creating a waterfall and lake.
The waterfall can be reached after a 10-minute walk through the rainforest that dominates the surrounding landscape. There are two viewing platforms here. The lake can be reached on foot via a staircase on the side of the steep face - there is another viewing platform on the way - and the waterfall can also be viewed from below.
