Bridge Builder

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The computer games Bridge Builder , Pontifex , Pontifex II / Bridge Construction Set and Bridge It form a series by the independent developer group Chronic Logic . The game is about building bridges over rivers or valleys with a limited supply of materials . These bridges then have to meet certain requirements, for example use by vehicles.

Bridge Builder

The first game in the series was released as freeware in 2000 . There is only one material available that can serve as both a carrier and a route. Basically, a train has to survive the passage. Because it turned out that the name "Bridge Builder" is protected , the official distribution of the game was stopped. In 2006 a new version called "Bridge Building Game" was released, with 30 levels more extensive.

Pontiff

All successors to Bridge Builder are available as a free demo version and for purchase as a full version . In the 2001 successor, Pontifex, more materials are available to the player and the game is three-dimensional.

Pontifex II / Bridge Construction Set

Pontifex II, later renamed Bridge Construction Set (BCS), was released in 2002 and won the Independent Games Festival Audience Award 2003. Suspension bridges and drawbridges can now also be built. The German version is called Bridge Builder, and was also sold as such from July 11, 2006.

Bridge It

Bridge It was created in collaboration with Nvidia and Auran . It has better graphics than the other versions of Bridge Builder and, despite the low specifications, has high hardware requirements in order to be able to play it smoothly.

Bridge Builder 2

On September 21, 2012 the publisher bitComposer Games published the long-announced and often postponed successor to Bridge Builder. Bridge Builder 2 (or Bridge Project outside Germany ) was developed by Halycon Media and Caipirinha Games .
