Brigitta Michel-Schwartze

Brigitta Michel-Schwartze (* 1947 ) is a German professor of social pedagogy and social work science as well as methods of social work.

Life

After an administrative career, she studied pedagogy, psychology and sociology at the University of Dortmund and German at the University of Bochum , then worked for a large educational institution in educational planning as well as in teaching and consulting before moving to the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg as a research assistant where she also did her PhD . Her dissertation is entitled The further training policy of the Federal Labor Office and its educational consequences . She taught for three semesters at the University of Rostock. From there she was appointed to the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences, where she held a professorship in the field of social work, upbringing and education from 1995 to 2012. The focus of research and teaching is / were social work science and methods of social work (development of a specific method for casework), the consequences of long-term unemployment on those affected, as well as prevention and intervention against unemployment. In addition, she worked in the university management and a. as prorector and temporarily as provisional rector, then as chairwoman of the academic senate, later concentrated on participation in scientific committees in German-speaking countries.
