Arrojadoa heimenii is a species of the genus Arrojadoa in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The epithet of the species honors Gerhard Heimen, who co-discovered the species in August 1991.

description

Arrojadoa heimenii grows small shrubs with 2 to 5 (rarely more) prostrate to ascending shoots and fiber roots . The shoots reach a length of up to 15 centimeters and a diameter of 2 centimeters. The approximately 20 spines arising from the 7 to 8 ribs are difficult to distinguish between central spines and radial spines. The radiating, needle-like thorns are whitish gray to yellowish and up to 1 centimeter long. The cephalium consists of yellowish white wool and brownish thorns 20 millimeters long.

The pink-violet flowers are lighter at the base and light pink to white inside. They are up to 2 inches long. The short elongated fruits are light greenish and at their tips, depending on the degree of ripeness, yellowish green to green to red.

Systematics and distribution

Arrojadoa heimenii is common in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais .

It was first described in 1999 by Werner van Heek and Willi Strecker. Pierre Josef Braun and Eddie Esteves Pereira consider Arrojadoa heimenii to be a synonym for Arrojadoa beateae .
