Brigitte Nowatzke-Kraft's range of work has been broad for years. The largest part is played by painting, which - coming from the expressive, picturesque landscape - made a U-turn in the 80s.

Over a period of about ten years, under the title Subjectivierungen, newspaper photos were painted over, which were located in the field of the satirical-surreal and, by retaining the original captions, contained absurd or critical messages. The series is currently being continued with black and white overpainting.

In addition to questions of content, designing with color is a fundamental element in the artist's work.

In current architectural and spatial images , what is depicted takes a back seat. Instead, she deals with color and shape, surface and space. In the foreground is the process-based work, which puts a layer of paint on top of a layer of paint and only gradually forms the composition. Typical stylistic devices of this group of works are: design elements that lead into the picture, graphic structures and obscure, painterly surfaces. The conscious exploration of transparency as one of the most important possible effects of color leads the artist to the question of how this shining through can be increased. With her the desire arose to work out the impression of floating even more and to detach the painting from the materiality. Your answer was to change the technique and the image carrier. She applies her motifs to Plexiglas using a photo-technical process. Transparent pictures are created that are executed in small format and can stand on their own, or are brought together with paintings in groups.

In addition, drawings are created under the title "Urban Structures", which show an unrestrained rampant architecture in archaic spatial networks, the construction of which is characterized by compression and loosening. Man's presence can only be guessed at.

The painter Brigitte Nowatzke-Kraft makes side jumps when she leaves the room of her pictures and packs her ideas in boxes and glasses or develops concepts for installations and real spaces (including art in architecture) using a wide variety of materials. Often this is their artistic response to tenders or themed exhibitions. These works are full of cryptic wit and ambiguity. They reflect current events, make use of literary models or have their roots in art history.
