Brigitte Woman. The magazine for women over 40 is a monthly women's magazine targeting women over 40 years of age. It is published by the Gruner + Jahr publishing house .
The magazine appeared for the first time in February 2000 as a special “ Brigitte Special”. From 2001 to 2004 four issues were published each year, in 2005 and 2006 six each, and since October 2006 the title has been published monthly.
The circulation sold is 136,976 copies, a decrease of 51.2 percent since 2005. Christine Hohwieler took over the editorial management on October 1, 2013, succeeding Karin Weber-Duve.
Topics and reception
The focus is on psychology , society, generation and target group-specific fashion and service topics. Cosmetics and other products are presented in the editorial part as well as in the advertisements as problem solvers for physical difficulties and change processes that come with age. Travel reports are tailored to women between the ages of 40 and 60, "who have more travel and life experience behind them and [...] have developed a critical attitude towards quality."
According to the study of women's magazines from the point of view of their readers , readers justify their reception of Brigitte Woman “with the greater proximity to the phase of life in which they are currently”.
