Broadcast is a British electronic band from Birmingham , England, signed to Warp Records , a label that mainly works with electronic music . Broadcast originally consisted of the core trio Trish Keenan (vocals), James Cargill (bass) and Tim Felton (guitar). Phil Jenkins, Neil Bullock and Stephen Perkins were on the drums .

On January 14, 2011, the singer Trish Keenan died of pneumonia. In 2013 the soundtrack for Peter Strickland's film Berberian Sound Studio was released . After Keenan's death, James Cargill continued the project alone.

style

The band's style can be seen as a mixture of retro-futuristic electronic sounds and the signature vocals of singer Trish Keenan. The latter are strongly influenced by the singing style of the 1960s . The American psychedelic band The United States Of America , which was known in the 1960s and often used the same electronic effects , also exerted influence . In addition, the music from Broadcast is partly reminiscent of that from Stereolab , with which it is often compared. Her mini-album Broadcast and The Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age , released in October 2009, was created in collaboration with The Focus Group (Julian House) and was comparatively psychedelic and experimental.
