Stereolab is an independent group from Great Britain founded in 1990 in London. The band originally consisted of Tim Gane (guitar, keyboard) and Lætitia Sadier (vocals, keyboard, guitar), who remained the main drivers and constants over the many changes in the lineup. Other long-term members were Andrew Ramsay (drums) and Mary Hansen (vocals, keyboards, guitar). Ramsay has been with the company since 1993, while Hansen was a member from 1992 until her accidental death in 2002. On April 2, 2009 the band announced that they wanted to take a "break" for an indefinite period of time. Nevertheless, the album Not Music was released in 2010 , which still contains songs from the time when the band had not yet paused.

The band's sound is determined by the contrast between powerful organ chords, mostly in the Farfisa sound , and the female, slightly weird English or French singing. Stereolab is considered one of the pioneers of post rock .

Pop culture influence

In October 2015 the American band announced !!! started running a band called Stereolad as a side project , with which the members of !!! Stereolab want to pay their respects.
