!!! (Chk Chk Chk) is an American band from New York founded in 1996 . She plays a progressive rock combination of different styles of music, such as indie rock , disco and funk . They see themselves as an underground band.

history

In 2000 her first album was released, !!! . In 2003, the single was Me and Giuliani Down by the School Yard released, the House -Beats with radio - basslines , psychedelic -sounding guitars and parodic texts combined. The title was voted into the annual best list of critics by the specialist magazine Spex .

Note on pronunciation on cover

The band name !!! can be pronounced as any sequence of three repeated sounds (usually “Chk Chk Chk”). The musicians were inspired by the subtitles of the film The Gods Must Be Mad , in which the symbol ! used for click sounds in African languages.

The band's drummer, Jerry Fuchs (also with Turing Machine , The Juan MacLean and Maserati ), died on November 9, 2009 at the age of 34 when he fell into an elevator shaft.

The 2010 album Strange Weather, Isn't It? is considered the "Berlin album" of the band, as it was partly recorded in the German capital. In the meantime there is !!! only five members. Long-time members Tyler Pope, John Pugh and Justin van der Volgen had left the band before the album was produced. With the song AM / FM , a song from the album was released as a free download in advance of the release.

In July 2015, the album As If was released after the song All U Writers contained on the album was released as a single in April .

Stereo load

Announced in October 2015 !!! started running a band called Stereolad as a side project , with which the members of !!! want to pay their respects to the band Stereolab . Stereolad supported !!! on the following tour.
