The three !!! - Detective stories for clever girls (spoken: The three exclamation marks. Detective stories for clever girls) is a detective and youth book series published by Franckh-Kosmos for girls aged ten and over. Over 80 cases have been published to date.

The first film of the three has been running since July 25, 2019 !!! in the cinemas, which, under the direction of Viviane Andereggen , is cast with Jürgen Vogel and Armin Rohde , among others .

concept

Modeled on the series Die Drei ??? which has been published by Franckh Kosmos Verlag since 1979. a detective series was launched especially for girls in 2006. The three !!! determine in a similar way to the three ??? .

Maja von Vogel , Henriette Wich , Petra Steckelmann (from volume “Scandal on the Racetrack”), Mira Sol (from volume “Hunt in the Underground”), Ann-Katrin Heger (from volume “Gorilla in Not”) ​​and Kari Erlhoff (from Volume “The Sleeping Beauty Case”) are the authors and Ina Biber is the main illustrator. The book series contains stories about a young detective trio, similar to the model series. The three main characters Kim Jülich, Franziska "Franzi" Winkler and Marie Grevenbroich are the female counterparts to the three ??? . In contrast to the three ??? are the places of the action of the three !!! not in the greater Los Angeles area , but as with TKKG in a fictional German city.

Similar to the three ??? there are repeating elements in each sequence:

  • “May I hand you our business card?” - from episode 2, because the first episode described the founding process and the card was only created afterwards.
  • "The three exclamation marks - 1,2,3 - Power!" - from episode 2 at the beginning of every investigation, in episode 1 only shortly before the end.

Kim Jülich

The brown-eyed Kim has short brown hair and is the founder of the three !!! . She is dutiful, honest, diplomatic and mediating. She writes a diary because she wants to be a crime writer or a professional detective, and she knows a lot about technology. However, she often has to neglect her crime thrillers as she has to take care of her relationship and the detective club more and more over time. Her mother Brigitte is the school director, from which the 13-year-old suffers particularly. Her father is a watchmaker. Kim doesn’t like sports, which sometimes hinders her in cases. She has two 10-year-old twin brothers, Ben and Lukas, with whom she often argues. Kim archives all the important things from everyday detective work on her computer. She has a thing for sweets, especially chocolate, which is why she often feels too fat. And she can't cope with tight spaces either. Her ex-boyfriend Michi Millbrandt often helps the girls with his experiment kit. Since case number 72, she has been with David Lindemann, whom she knows from a writing workshop. Her family also has a dog that goes by the name of Pablo.

Franziska Winkler

Franziska Winkler (also called Franzi) is envied by everyone for her athletic talent, which is helpful in many cases. She is 13 years old and has short red hair. Franzi lives on a small farm where the girls' headquarters are - an old horse shed - and is extremely fond of animals. That's why she often helps out her father, a veterinarian who has his own practice. She has a black pony named Tinka and a limping chicken named Polly. When she's not riding Tinka, she is passionate about skating in the Schillerpark. She has an older 18-year-old brother named Stefan and a 16-year-old sister named Christiane (called Chrissie) who she argues with all the time. Franzi has a grandmother named Lotta (called Oma Lotti), whom she and Kim and Marie often visit. When Omi Lotti gets older, she moves in with Franzi and her family, in case 48 she dies. Until Fall 13, Franzi was with Benni Hofer, whom she met during her biggest hobby, skating. She falls in love with the semi-Mexican Felipe and has a relationship with him, which in Case 50 is ended by complications. Her new boyfriend is Blake, who is in a wheelchair. But that doesn't prevent him from practicing all kinds of sports. Her mother runs a successful baking service together with a friend named Katja, who later quit because of "too much stress". Ms. Winkler later founds a small courtyard café, which she and her husband Karl and their children open at certain events. Franzi's friend Blake later went to America for a year.

Marie Grevenbroich

The blue-eyed 14-year-old Marie is the oldest of the three !!! and has long blonde hair. She lives with her single father Helmut in a penthouse with her own sauna and swimming pool. Her father is a well-paid actor who plays the main male role (Commissioner Brockmeier) in a famous early evening series (Die Vorstadtwache), which is why Marie receives generous pocket money. Marie is always on the cutting edge of fashion. Her wardrobe is well stocked with the clothes, so the three of them !!! Marie's wardrobe can be used for cladding. Marie is often late for the detective meetings. Marie's mother Anne died at a young age in a car accident, which made life difficult for Marie and her father. She inherited her father's acting talent and regularly takes singing and acting lessons, as well as doing aerobics. Her appearance is very important to her, and her long blonde hair must sit day and night. In the course of the series, her father finds a new partner. Her name is Tessa, she has a 12-year-old daughter named Lina, with whom Marie doesn't get along very well. The blended family lives in the penthouse for some time; when it gets too small, she moves into an old villa in the east quarter. Tessa becomes pregnant and Marie has a half-brother named Finn, later Helmut marries Tessa. Marie goes to Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium, with which she sometimes shows off. Marie has a friend named Holger, from whom she separates in the course of the books and then gets back together with him.
