The Juan MacLean (bourgeois John MacLean) is an American musician whose music can largely be classified into the genres of dance, punk and electronic .

history

MacLean was the guitarist of the indie band Six Finger Satellite , but they soon separated due to internal difficulties; MacLean then began producing in his own studio in Providence , Rhode Island . Shortly before the band finally broke up, James Murphy ( LCD Soundsystem ) became a member, who would later sign him with his label Death from Above Records (later DFA Records ).

After Six Fingers Satellite broke up, MacLean taught English at the University of Rhode Island before being persuaded to return to music by James Murphy.

In 2005 MacLean released his first album Less than Human. In the fall of 2006 he took part in The DFA Remixes Chapter 2 Promotion Tour .

MacLean is currently working on his second studio album.
