Label history

DFA Records started in 2001 with the release of the singles House of Jealous Lovers by The Rapture and By The Time I Get To Venus by The Juan MacLean . The label was able to celebrate a major commercial success with the album LCD Soundsystem by label co-founder Murphy, which made it to number 20 on the British album charts.

DFA can also achieve great musical influence through the remixes produced by Murphy and Goldsworthy and published by DFA. Remixes were made for numerous well-known artists such as Le Tigre , Goldfrapp , Nine Inch Nails , Gorillaz and The Chemical Brothers . Due to the remixes and the influential published bands like Animal Collective or Black Dice , DFA is now considered the center of the dance-punk movement.
