Goldfrapp is a British duo that produces electronic music . The band was formed in 1999 when singer Alison Goldfrapp , who until then had mainly worked with Tricky and Orbital , passed some demos on to film composer and keyboardist Will Gregory.

history

In 2000 Goldfrapp released their debut album, Felt Mountain , produced by PJ Harvey producer John Parish , based on influences as diverse as synth pop , classic film music and folk music . It was received very positively by the critics. Three years later Black Cherry was released , which is much edgier and more hectic and puts more emphasis on the drum beats. On August 22, 2005, Goldfrapp's third album, Supernature , was released . Ooh La La , the first single from it, entered the British charts at number 4 in early August 2005, making it Goldfrapp's most successful title to date. In 2006, We Are Glitter , an album with remixes by Supernature, was released . The fourth studio album, Seventh Tree , was released in Germany on February 22, 2008.

The band was nominated for the 2001 Mercury Music Prize and won the 2003 MTV Europe Music Awards for Best Website.

Goldfrapp also wrote the music for the film My Summer of Love (2005) by Pawel Pawlikowski.

On March 19, 2010, the fifth studio album Head First was released, which is stylistically based on the synthpop of the 1980s. The first single Rocket only reached number 47 in the UK, but number 32 in Germany, making it the duo's most successful single in Germany. It was also announced that Goldfrapp had worked with Christina Aguilera for her album Bionic .

On September 6, 2013, the album Tales of Us was released. A short episode film was produced for this album by Lisa Gunning , which was shown in selected cinemas.
