Orbital is an English techno duo founded in 1987 , consisting of the brothers Paul and Phil Hartnoll.

Career

The name comes from the London orbital motorway Motorway M25 , and London Orbital called near which in the later 1980s and early 1990s many raves were held. Her early singles like Chime and Satan became the first hits in the young techno movement.

The duo combines many styles of electronic music. Their music has often been used for soundtracks, e.g. B. alongside Michael Kamen , they contributed parts of the score to the film Event Horizon . The song Halcyon & On & On was used in the films Hackers - On the FBI's net , Girls Club - Caution snappy! and Mortal Kombat used. In 2005 her title Tunnel Vision could be heard in the film Football Factory, among others . Orbital also produced an exclusive track for the PlayStation game wipEout . For the film Octane in 2003 they contributed the entire soundtrack and produced another song on the XXX soundtrack. The duo also composed the soundtrack for the film Pusher in 2012

From 2004 to 2008 both brothers worked on separate projects. Paul Hartnoll released his solo album The Ideal Condition in 2007 , Phil Hartnoll released the album Madness and Me with Nick Smith as Long Range .

Orbital have been playing concerts again since 2009. In 2012 another studio album was released with Wonky . In October 2011, the track Never was published as a free download on the website as a teaser for the new album . The album Monsters Exist followed in 2018 .
