West Liberty is a village in Logan County , Ohio , United States . In 2000 the place had 1,813 inhabitants. The place is in the Liberty Township in the south of the county. One of the founders of Sigma Chi , Benjamin Piatt Runkle, was born here.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the place has an area of 2.9 km², without any significant body of water. The Mad River flows through southeastern West Liberty.
The US Highway 68 runs as Detroit Street from north to south by West Liberty and forms the main street of the village. The main road in east-west direction West Libertys is State Route 245 . The eastern end point of State Route 508 is at the intersection with US 68 in the north of the settlement area; State Route 508 heads west towards De Graff .
Demographics
At the time of the 2000 United States Census, West Liberty was inhabited by 1,813 people. The population density was 630.6 people per km ². There were 698 housing units at an average of 242.8 per km ². The West Liberty population was 98.46% White, 0.17% Black, 0.28% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 0% reported racial, and 0.72% named two or more races. 0.17% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The residents of West Liberty distributed to 660 households out of which 31.8% were living in children under 18 years of age. 54.2% of households were married, 8.8% had a female head of the household without a husband and 34.4% were not families. 31.4% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 13.2% of all households aged 65 years or older.
